Many charities continue to face challenges in recruiting and retaining trustees - particularly people who bring diverse perspectives, relevant skills and experience, and who are able to fully engage in the role. Recruitment and succession planning are not solely the responsibility of the chair; they are a collective responsibility of the whole Board.
This session will explore the role trustees can play in building a strong, inclusive and effective Board, from identifying gaps and reaching new networks through to welcoming, supporting and retaining trustees once appointed.
The session will cover:
- Building a diverse, skilled and balanced Board that meets the Board's current and future needs
- Reaching and attracting potential trustees
- Supporting effective induction, inclusion and ongoing engagement of trustees
- Creating a positive Board culture where trustees feel able to contribute and stay engaged
- Practical tools and approaches to support recruitment, onboarding and retention
What to expect
The session will be held over the online platform, Zoom, enabling you to see the trainer and others joining the session face to face. There will also be an opportunity for discussion with fellow trustees using breakout rooms, therefore we encourage you to join with your video on if you can.
