Manchester Mind would like you invite you to attend Suicide Risk Awareness and Support
Each half day session will be up to 4 hours long and must be attended in full, unfortunately we cannot record sessions.
The training is delivered in a supportive environment by our experienced trainers who bring their own lived experience and knowledge to facilitate open discussion and provide expert guidance.
We understand that talking about mental health isn’t always easy. As we don’t have any prior knowledge of you and your past experiences, we want to make sure you are keeping safe, so if you have any concerns before, during, or after the session, please let us know by emailing training@manchestermind.org, or you can call our Welcome Team on 0161 769 5732. If something doesn’t feel right, you can leave at any time, but please follow the ground rules set at the beginning of the session (usually we ask to make the trainer aware if you need to leave the session for any reason).
Course Overview:
The training is designed to develop the skills and confidence to have conversations to help a person in crisis. You are not expected to become a mental health professional - it's about equipping you with the skills to make a difference within your role. The training is for anyone who may come into contact with people during the course of their work and wants to be able to provide appropriate support.
Course content:
- What are suicidal feelings and who is more at risk?
- How can I help someone with suicidal feelings?
- What should I do if someone discloses to me that they are suicidal?
- What's a support plan?
- How can I support myself?
The training is experiential so although there are slides, we’ll have lots of discussions within the session. Self-care is a top priority in all of our training. The course is delivered in a very supportive environment and our trainer will be available after the session to offer any further guidance or support.
