Volunteers needed for The Real Neighbours Wythenshawe Phone Buddy Scheme

The Real Neighbours Wythenshawe are looking for volunteers to help support the vulnerable members of the community that are currently alone in isolation.

You would become a phone buddy and ring daily or weekly for a chat, to prevent loneliness and be a point of contact for ongoing support over the next few weeks of months.

A new documentary, ‘Guardians’, follows the group as they investigate the guardianship scheme and campaign for more support to be available.

The Caribbean and African Health Network Greater Manchester (CAHN) undertook the first primary research study of the black voices in Greater Manchester between April 18 and May 13 with 334 people responding.

Covid-19: Henshaws survey with blind and partially sighted people report

henshawsHenshaws started a survey at the beginning of the lockdown as they knew the restrictions that were put in place would have consequences for people already facing challenges in their everyday lives due to sight loss.

Henshaws have surveyed 955 visually impaired people and had time to analyse the results in full.
