EasierToBeActive

23 Mar 2020 - 11:51 by michelle.foster

One in three of us live with a health condition and are twice as likely to be amongst the least physically active. EasierToBeActive aims to make it easier for those with health conditions to be active and stay active. This a national conversation for anyone with a passion for empowering and inspiring those with health conditions to be active. From mid-March a national online workshop will be hosted to provide a safe space - where everyone can share their ideas, and read, comment and vote on the ideas of others, all anonymously.

Covid-19 - Support for voluntary sector organisations

In March, we suspended our usual offer to volunteers and set up the Covid-19 Community Volunteer Programme to ensure that support is in place to care for people and communities during the Covid-19 outbreak. To make sure that this is as effective as possible, we want to know from you, what support would be of most help to you right now.

Covid-19 Community Volunteering is a volunteer programme operating across Manchester, to ensure support is in place to care for people and communities during the Covid-19 outbreak. The programme is coordinated by Macc - a registered charity, working all year round to support a thriving voluntary, community and social enterprise sector in Manchester via the Manchester Volunteer Centre.

We will use the information below to create requests for support and share those with volunteers and employers who want to help. Alternatively, if you are already registered with Volunteer Centre Manchester, you can log in here to upload an opportunity yourself. If you haven’t registered with Volunteer Centre Manchester and would like to do so, you can do so here.

Please outline the different type of support you feel your organisation would benefit from at the moment:

For example:

  • Are you in need of volunteers to offer practical support in the community? (This could be tasks such as telephone befriending, dropping off supplies to vulnerable people etc)

  • Would you benefit from support from someone with a logistics or marketing background

  • Do you need volunteers who have a particular driving qualification?

  • Do you need funding or HR advice?

If you are a volunteer wanting to offer support to the community, please register here for our Covid-19 Community Volunteering Programme

You can also find dedicated Covid-19 related resoures for those who manage volunteers here, including topics such as volunteering safely, rethinking the role of volunteers, volunteer expectations and volunteer retention.

Please can you give us the best number to contact you on as we will be ringing you to make sure we can give you the best possible assistance
North/Central/South Manchester? Citywide?
These are only suggestions, please use the 'other' option if your request for volunteers does not fit one of these example roles.
This may be funding, safeguarding advice or other forms of advice and guidance.

By submiting this form you agree that:

  • Personal data and information relating to your voluntary work, may be held and processed on a computer or manual records and disclosed to authorised employees of Macc and other voluntary and community organisations involved in the Covid-19 Community Volunteer programme.
  • That these voluntary and community organisations involved in the Covid-19 Community Volunteer programme can contact you regarding voluntary work.
