Join the apprentice revolution and earn whilst you learn

Apprenticeships have changed. With more than 200 types of apprenticeships across many industry sectors, from finance, to law and engineering, to science, retail and to healthcare, there is an apprenticeship out there for you.

Apprenticeships are real jobs and real careers with training. As paid employees, apprentices earn a wage and learn on the job while also attending college and working towards nationally recognised qualifications.

Macc are committed to a strong community and voluntary sector in Manchester. We believe that open data can assist with this ambition, through enabling transparency of our actions, in the form of open data.

It describes our best practice for how we create and publish datasets that are available for open reuse. It details the several steps we take to ensure this best practice.

The policy also includes our Code of Conduct for those that wish to use our data.

Do you know an inspiring individual who has done something to make a difference? Then why not enter them into our awards? You can enter only one person in each category.

The categories are:
Volunteer of the year - Do you know someone who volunteers their time to improve their community or the lives of those around them?

Community Project of the year - Are you a community or voluntary group who works together to provide services or activities that enrich your community? Have you been involved in a great project funded by our community grant?

UK Armed Forces Day 2015 Grant

Armed Forces Day will be on Saturday 27 June 2015. It's an opportunity to do two things. Firstly, to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in Her Majesty's Armed Forces. Secondly, it gives the nation an opportunity to Show Your Support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community: from currently serving troops to Service families and from veterans to cadets.

Across the country people are getting involved: communities hold local events and business show their support.

The Weavers Company Benevolent Fund

The Weavers' Company Benevolent Fund was set up in 1973 with funds from The Worshipful Company of Weavers, which is the oldest City of London Livery Company and has a history dating back before 1130 AD. The priorities of the fund are to help disadvantaged young people and offenders and ex-offenders, particularly those under 30 years of age.

The Prince’s Trust Team Programme are looking for projects in the community for its students to complete

The Prince’s Trust Team Programme based at The Manchester College’s Wythenshawe site is currently looking for worthwhile projects in the community for its students to complete.

Perhaps there’s a local youth club or community centre in need of refurbishment or an area of land or community garden that could do with a makeover. Whatever it is the students would consider it.

Not only will they plan and carry out the manual work they will also raise the funds needed to purchase any materials/equipment needed.

Manchester Safeguarding Children Board Lay Members

Manchester Safeguarding Children Board (MSCB) is seeking to appoint two Lay Members who will be volunteer members of MSCB’s strategic partnership Board. MSCB coordinate what is done by each person or body represented on the Board for the purposes of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in the area; and to ensure the effectiveness of what is done by each such person or body for those purposes.

The role is non-remunerative but reasonable expenses will be paid. The successful applicant will need to have:

New mental health guidance published

NHS England has set out guidance for how new access and waiting time standards for mental health services are to be introduced.
In October, NHS England and the Department of Health announced the measures in Improving better access to mental health services by 2020.
NHS England’s guidance, out today for CCGs, explains the case for change in four areas and sets out the expectations of local commissioners for delivery during the year ahead working with providers and other partners.
