A report by the Centre for Social and Health Research at the University of Salford has revealed new insights into the role of Greater Manchester’s voluntary, community and social enterprise sector during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Community groups across the UK now have the chance to bid for a share of a £2.6 million fund to support programmes that will help newly arrived families make the best start to rebuilding their lives.
This money can be used to support people through buddying schemes, help families to access services like registering for GPs or opening bank accounts, or find employment.
Investments of up to £5,000 are available to VCSE sector organisations from across Greater Manchester to undertake projects to boost cancer screening rates amongst under-represented groups.
Priority groups for this round of funding:
Funding to encourage social interaction and social action among people of two or more different faiths to build friendships and develop relationships of trust in 10 areas of England (which includes Manchester).
The objective of the Youth Engagement Grant is to support young people across England to participate in the development of policy affecting them, enabling more young people to have their voices heard and participate in decision making on a national policy level.
Funding is available for organisations and partnerships to create and support new digital volunteering opportunities.

The Audience Agency is looking for 10 to 15 action research projects for an exciting new opportunity funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Digital Skills for Heritage. It is offering funding and support for projects, that use digital technology in some way to engage communities with archiving or archive collections.
