Revive - This family are thriving in their new community

Revive helps people establish safe new lives in Manchester after the trauma of fleeing their homelands. They offer immigration, housing, benefits and social care casework and an enrichment programme to reduce social isolation and support language skills. Their service users are disproportionately affected by the cost of living crisis - often having no recourse to public funds and being prevented from working. Those who can work tend to be in low paid employment because their qualifications and experience aren’t transferrable.

Caritas Aspire Business offers two distinct services for refugees. The first service is called Up Collective, which is a 12-week course designed for early-stage refugee entrepreneurs. It provides them with foundational knowledge in business and offers a testing event where they can interact with real customers to receive feedback on their business prototypes. Additionally, participants receive personalised support from a business coach and mentor to refine their ideas and adapt their business offerings for the UK market.

Manchester City of Sanctuary offer a varied and dynamic programme of activities to refugees and asylum seekers that are engaging, fun and promote positive mental health and wellbeing. Their mission is to make Manchester a welcoming place for these individuals. The North West has the second highest number of asylum seekers of any UK region with 16 per 10,000 people. Volunteering is known to be beneficial for both individuals and the wider community.

Yaran Northwest was set up in 2014. They are a bilingual team of community health workers, psychologists, therapists, and community connectors who are specialists in working with BAME communities. They have a well-established reach into the BAME community, deep cultural understanding, and a wide variety of skills in languages other than English, such as Farsi, Dari, Arabic, Urdu, Turkish and Kurdish. They have personal experience of immigration, dealing with mental health issues and being resilient.

Grants to start your own bike library

Bike libraries are local hubs that will allow people to borrow a bicycle, like a book, to try out. They aim to boost access to cycles and give people a chance to give cycling a go.

Sport England – Small Grants Programme

Co-op Local Fund Reopens for 2023 Applications
