Manchester residents wanting to hold events to help their communities stand up to hate crime are being invited to apply for cash from the City Council.
Manchester City Council is encouraging residents to help them raise awareness of the problem and understand what they can do to report any incidents, as part of a hate crime awareness week being held early next year.
Groups who want to organise events helping residents celebrate their diversity and get to know each other better are now being invited to apply for grants of up to £200.
The John Grant Davies Trust provides funding for groups based in areas of urban deprivation in Greater Manchester and which are combating poverty and empowering local people to help in their own community.
Grants are normally made between the values of £100 and £3,000. However, an exceptional application may receive a greater amount of funding.
Applications for revenue funding over a period of up to three years will also be considered.
Voluntary and community groups working in the most deprived areas of Greater Manchester are eligible to apply.

Big Lottery Fund (BIG) has teamed up with national communications charity Media Trust, and Northcliffe Digital's Thisis and localpeople community news sites to find inspiring images of communities and Big Lottery Fund projects making a difference.
Upload your photos showing how your BIG-funded project is making a positive difference for a chance to win a Canon D-SLR camera and two places on a photography training course. BIG-funded projects should enter the Big Lottery Fund Project category. All entries must be supplied with a caption explaining what the photo shows.
The new Equalities Funding Programme provides grants of up to £40,000 per year to voluntary and community sector groups to deliver projects which address inequalities faced by sections of the community in Manchester.

This will help inform Volunteering Greater Manchester of the quality of services provided by Volunteer Centres to the sector and ways in which these may be improved.
The East Manchester Ending Youth Violence Small Grants Programme will provide funding for voluntary, community and faith organisations working with young people in the East Manchester SRF area.
The grants will support work with young people who are involved in youth violence or are at risk of becoming involved.
Grants of up to £3,000 are available for activities and support for 13-25 year olds from the East Manchester SRF area to be delivered before 31 March 2013.
NCVO has released the results of their annual joint report with the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF). The findings are stark. They show a real terms 20% fall in donations to charities during the past year. Fewer people are giving and those who do are giving less. And this is against a backdrop of spending cuts and rising demand for services. Whilst the picture for individual charities varies this overall view of the sector is concerning.
In co‐production with Macc and Manchester Local Involvement Network, the event was an opportunity for people to:
• Find out more information about the three Manchester Clinical Commissioning Groups and their visions and plans
• Find out how as individuals or community groups/organisations they can engage with the Clinical Commissioning Groups and their Patient and Public Advisory Groups
• Find out more about the Voluntary and Community Sector services in Manchester, how they are ready for the challenge of clinical commissioning and development work taking place
