Manchester's International Women's Day 2013 Grants

This years international Women's Day grants provide an opportunity for not for profit groups to apply for small grants of £250 to £500 to host events that tackle the under representation of women in the arts, business, sport, science and the environment and promote work with different groups of women in Manchester.

Not-for-profit, voluntary and community groups can apply for grants of £250 to £500 to host International Women's Day events across the city during March 2013.

The Big Dig is a nationwide project which aims to engage over 10,000 people in Community Food-Growing Projects across England.

2012 World of Difference

Each year, the Vodafone World of Difference UK programme gives 500 people the chance to work for a UK charity of their choice, and get paid. They can choose to work either full-time for two months or part-time for four.

As well as providing support to charities, the programme has so far helped 1,500 people bring valuable skills and experience to charitable organisations across the UK.

For the first time, the World of Difference UK 2012 programme will be open to all previous participants and offers both full and part-time placements.

£1m from Big Society Capital to help fund community energy projects

Big Society Capital is to invest £1 million in PURE, the Clean Planet Trust, which will enable it to fund up to 70 community energy projects in deprived communities in the UK.

PURE’s Community Energy Fund combines both social and private investment: Big Society Capital’s investment will be boosted by donations from companies such as Barclays and British Airways.

New NW Community Empowerment Awards Scheme

North West Together We Can, supported by Our Life, has launched a new Community Empowerment Award to reward best practice in communities around empowerment, cohesion and resilience that has taken place over the last 12 months in the North West.

Equalities Funding Programme Drop-In Sessions

Sport England Launches Get Healthy, Get into Sport

A new pilot fund has been launched by Sport England with funding from the National Lottery. Awards of between £30,001 and £500,000 are available to fund sports projects that can best contribute to improving health while also growing weekly sports participation.

Sport England is focusing this funding on those who are least active and in this way plan to make a significant contribution to reducing health inequalities and producing the greatest potential health benefit in England.
