scopeScope’s Research Panel is a group of disabled people (and parents and carers of disabled children) who take part in research projects with Scope. Scope are looking for new people to sign up.

It’s a great way for disabled people to use their lived experiences and have their say, and get vouchers as a thank you for their time and effort.

Henshaws Children and Young People Matched Appeal 2021

henshawsBetween now and 31 August, every donation towards Henshaws work with Children and Young People, will be matched funded, by a local businessman. This means a donation of £25 would be worth £50, or a donation of £1,000 would be worth £2,000. If you are able to fundraise or make any donation during this period, it would make an incredible difference to a young person living with a visual impairment.

Pathways Digital Inclusion Course

breakthrough ukThis is a new course from Breakthrough UK to support disabled people to become digitally included, which begins on 1 July in Wythenshawe. Those who complete the 8 week course will receive a free Chromebook.

The course is for Manchester residents, aged 18 or over who identify as disabled and are digitally excluded.

Referrals need to be submitted by 28 June by calling 0161 234 3950 or text 0793 994 4232.

Manchester Disabled People’s Engagement Panel

opportunityApplications are now open for individuals to join the new Manchester Disabled People’s Engagement Panel. Members of the panel will use their lived experience of disability to ensure that Manchester’s services and businesses do not create unexpected barriers to disabled people. It aims to be a ‘go-to’ group where key organisations from across public services and businesses in the city will come to get advice on being more inclusive.

Greater Manchester Disabled People’s Panel is recruiting new members

opportunityThe Greater Manchester Disabled People’s Panel (GMDPP) is made up of Disabled People’s Organisations (DPO- that is organisations majority run and staffed by disabled people) across Greater Manchester. It operates at the highest strategic level with the GM Mayor Andy Burnham and GM Combined Authority to advise, consult, influence, and create policy with the aim to improve the lives of disabled people throughout GM.
