Do you work for a grassroots organisation in Manchester with young people aged 13-25? Would you like to learn more about how social media impacts young people's mental health and emotional wellbeing?

What you will learn and explore:

  • Exploring algorithms and different platforms, specifically how data is gathered and used
  • Showing information about the different online communities and their impact on young people
  • Using neuroscience to understand the benefits and negative impacts of social media

Eligibility

These sessions are for professionals from grassroots organisations working with young people 13-25.

Grassroots organisations are small groups of individuals who collaborate to improve their community. These groups are typically non-profit and may consist of both paid staff and volunteers. Their primary goal is to enhance the social, cultural and economic wellbeing of community members.

To qualify as a grassroots organisation, these groups must:

  • operate as micro-entities, working primarily within a certain area, such as five streets/or hyper localities
  • be established by members of the community
  • have an annual turnover of less than £200,000 and have fewer than 10 employees
