Consultation on a new fund to support the sustainability of VCSE Organisations

The Cabinet Office are seeking views on a new £40 million fund to help voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations secure their futures.

The fund will provide medium-sized organisations with the support they need to plan for the long term and begin to move to sustainable business models. The fund will be open to applications in 2015 and will look particularly at supporting organisations working with the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of society.

Community Assets – Under the Hammer: Capital grants to facilitate competitive bidding for land and buildings to make use of the Right to Bid. Apply for a Your Housing Group Bursary and you could receive money to enable you to go to university, cover transport costs to attend college or work, or support your move to a more independent life.

The Young Person Bursary is an initiative set up by Your Housing Group, which is available to all young people aged between 14-25 years old who live in a Your Housing Group property.

Heart Research UK and Subway Healthy Heart Grants

Heart Research UK (HRUK) and Subway® Healthy Heart Grants of up to £10,000 are available for new, original and innovative projects that actively promote Heart Health and help to prevent, or reduce, the risk of heart disease in specific groups or communities.

The HRUK and SUBWAY® Healthy Heart Grant is only available for projects that actively promote heart health and reduce the risk of heart disease. A funding pot of £10,000 is available in each region.

Only community or voluntary organisations, registered charities or other not for profit organisations may apply.

Manchester groups asked to participate in short safeguarding survey for Manchester Safeguarding Children Board

Manchester Safeguarding Children's Board (MSCB) is keen to understand how much people who work with children and young people know about safeguarding in order to understand if there are any areas where further information and training is needed across the City. They are asking groups from the public and voluntary sector to select a small number of staff (3-5) who work with children and young people to undertake a short survey about safeguarding within their organisations.

Changes in EU Procurement Rules

The 2014 EU Procurement Directives were adopted by the EU on 28 March 2014 and the UK government is intending to put them into operation in the UK as quickly as possible. Manchester City Council and other public bodies are beginning to assess their impact. The new rules remove the distinction between Part A and Part B procurement and are intended, on the whole, to open up the market, especially to small and medium enterprises.
