The new briefing shares transferable learning from their Community Navigator project delivered by British Red Cross that worked with small, tight-knit ethnic minority communities – Bangladeshi communities – in Greater Manchester.

Ethnic inequalities in Covid-19 mortality

reportThe Runnymede Trust in collaboration with the University of Manchester have just released a new report addressing the possible causes of Covid-19 ethnic disparity. The report finds that the greater risks facing racially diverse groups are not genetic, but instead are likely the result of pre-existing social and economic inequalities.

2021 Windrush Day Grant Scheme

This programme will support people of all ages and backgrounds to embrace our shared history and help champion a sense of pride of the contributions made by British Caribbean communities.

The Black Girl Fest Creative Fund

black girl festBlack Girl Fest is pleased to offer four grants to support Black women and non-binary UK-based creatives affected by Covid-19.

Each selected creative will be awarded £250 as a one-time contribution of financial support with no-strings-attached. This grant is aimed at supporting creatives whose work has been affected by the current economic situation.

CAHN Employee Assistance Programme survey

cahnThe Caribbean and African Health Network (CAHN) is developing an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for Caribbean and African people in the workplace considering the health disparities in the Black community. There is much evidence that a culturally competent service will have better outcomes hence the development of a Black-led service offer.

Emergency Grants for GM BAME Communities - Small Grants

fundingGrants of £1,000 - £5,000 to fund small BAME led VCSE organisations to respond to the needs of their communities during the Covid-19 pandemic. Activities must be expected to end by 30 September 2021.

These grants can fund a number of different things:

Windrush Community Fund

fundingThe Windrush Community Fund is up to £500,000 of financial support available to charity, community or grassroots organisations across the UK to fund projects which raise awareness of the Windrush Scheme (documentation), the Windrush Compensation Scheme or both.

This support is available to fund activities across the UK. Awards will range from a minimum of £2,500 to a maximum of £25,000.

It’s an old question: “have you ever wondered what it would be like if….?” (Bit of a cliché in fact, but go with me, it’s the end of a long difficult year...)

On the day I’m writing this, we’re asking that question about the work of local charities, community groups, faith groups, voluntary organisations and social enterprises. Have you ever wondered what it would be like if they just weren’t there?
