This Christmas, help Emmeline’s Pantry Parlour to support women and families in need.

Emmeline’s Pantry Parlour aim to provide each referred family with a starter, main course and dessert for Christmas day. Emmeline’s Pantry Parlour also wants to ensure they have food for two weeks of the holiday season. These include fresh food, non-perishable items, fruit and vegetables.

Europia Spirit Story - Our responsibility is to ensure the law has been correctly and fairly applied

On Friday 23rd September, a woman with three children, one of whom is disabled, attended a Europia advice session as she had been left in a difficult situation with the DWP when the private solicitor she had hired disappeared. She was left very distressed as she did not understand that she had unintentionally created difficulties for herself as she lacked an understanding of the legal system. Europia were able to explain to her how she came to find herself in her situation.

World Food Day - 16 October 2016

In 2015-2016 Manchester South Central Foodbank fed 1516 people, a massive 13644 meals plus extras such as toiletries, nappies and treats. They also provided 50 hampers for local people at Christmas time and fed 60 people on Christmas day in Moss Side, who would otherwise not of had a meal or would of spent Christmas alone.

Greater Manchester Law Centre ESA appeals service

From 6 September Greater Manchester Law Centre (GMLC) will be providing challenging negative Employment Support Allowance (ESA) decisions every Tuesday by appointment only.

This advice service is for people who have been refused ESA.

This is currently the only area of law that GMLC provide assistance in but they are looking to expand in the near future.

Women ESOL learners – English and cooking classes

This is a free 10-week project with cooking and ESOL at Levenshulme Inspire for ESOL practitioners or any organisaitons working with women ESOL learners.

Enrolment for the 10-week ESOL cooking project is on Wednesday 14 September 2016, 10am at Levenshulme Inspire.

All levels are welcome.

New dedicated emergency phone line (105) from Electricity North West

From Monday 6 September Electricity North West (ENW) have launched a new telephone number (105) for customers to call should they need to report or get information about a power cut in their area. 105 is a free service and you can call the number from most landlines and mobile phones.

Go online to apply for benefits and tell Manchester City Council about any changes

For help with paying your rent and council tax, Manchester City Council’s online calculator is quick and easy. If you have children at school, Manchester City Council can also work out if they are entitled to free school meals. If you already receive Housing Benefit, Council Tax Support or free school meals, it's also easier to tell the City Council online if there are any changes which affect these benefits.
