GM Creative Health Champions programme: Creative Health and Health Inequalities

The GM Creative Health Champions programme is a free online training offer for people working across health, social care, local government, culture, heritage, the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCFSE) sector, academia and related fields who are interested in the role of creativity in supporting health and wellbeing in Greater Manchester. It is particularly suited to those who want to influence change within their organisation, community or wider system, build their knowledge of creative health, and develop the confidence to embed creative health approaches in practice

Each module is standalone  –  you can choose to attend one or more depending on your interests.

Introduction to Creative Health in Greater Manchester 

(23 September, 10am – 11:30am, 1 October 1pm – 2:30pm)

Introduces Greater Manchester’s approach to creative health and its role in Live Well, prevention and neighbourhood working. Delivered by the GM Creative Health team, this module uses local examples to show how creativity can support health, wellbeing and community connection.

Creative Health and Neurodivergent Young People

(6 October, 10am – 11:30am, 15 October, 10am – 11:30am)

Explores how creative health can support the wellbeing, inclusion and life opportunities of neurodivergent young people. Delivered by Rod Kippen from the Horsfall at 42nd Street, this module introduces neurodiversity-affirming and practical ways to build confidence, connection and self-expression.

Creative Health and Good Quality Practice

(13 October, 9:30am – 11am, 21 October, 9:30am – 11am)

Introduces the Creative Health Quality Framework and what good quality looks like in creative health practice. Led by Jane Willis, who co-authored the framework, this module helps participants build confidence, use a shared language for quality and strengthen person-centred, inclusive practice.

Creative Health and Health Inequalities

(5 November, 1pm – 2:30pm, 19 November, 1pm – 2:30pm)

Explores how creative health can help address health inequalities and the wider social determinants of health. Delivered by the National Centre for Creative Health, this module introduces evidence, policy and practical approaches to improving access, inclusion and wellbeing.

Creative Health and Global Majority Mental Health

(10 November, 10am – 11:30am, 25 November, 10am – 11:30am)

Explores how creative health can support mental health and wellbeing within Global Majority communities. Led by Magdalen Bartlett, CEO of Afrocats, this module focuses on culturally responsive practice, creativity, connection and more equitable mental health support.

Creative Health and the Early Years

(12 November, 9:30am – 11am, 2 December 9:30am – 11:00am)

Explores how creative health can support babies, young children and families during the early years. Led by early years specialists Anne O’Connor and Anna Daly, this module looks at creativity, play, movement and culture as ways to support development, wellbeing and family relationships.


Following registration, you will receive a calendar invitation for each session you have selected. Invitations will be sent to the email address you provide and will include a Microsoft Teams link and all joining instructions.
