The Forever Manchester Awards is now open for applications from grassroots community groups in Greater Manchester and is offering awards of up to £1,000.

Forever Manchester believes that connected communities make stronger, happier communities, so we love any activity that brings people together. Forever Manchester Awards support groups to run activities that do just this.

B&Q Foundation Grants

The funding is intended for registered charities working with people in need (by reason of financial hardship, sickness, disability, other disadvantage or distress) in the UK and who need funding for the following:

  • Projects that provide, maintain, repair or improve housing or community space
  • Supporting people experiencing poor housing or homelessness

 UK registered charities based and working in the UK can apply.

Sport England – Movement Fund

The new £160 million, four-year Movement Fund offers grants of between £300 and £15,000, crowdfunding pledges, and resources to improve physical activity opportunities for the people and communities who need it the most across England.

The new fund replaces Sport England’s existing Small Grants Programme, which is now closed to applications, and Active Together fund, which will close soon.

Good Food Greater Manchester Re-Launch

What was "Good Food Greater Manchester” will be re-launching as the “Good Food Action Network” for Greater Manchester.

The new action network is launching as an off-shoot / sub-group of the GM Food Security Action Network, to be able to really closely link food security and food sustainability work, with a broader mission of: Healthier and more sustainable food for everyone across Greater Manchester (including people on limited incomes), available where they live.

Amani Creatives, to develop Fumbo: Tales of African Riddles from the North West

Manchester-based African-led Arts and Cultural organisation, Amani Creatives CIC will be delivering an exciting project over 18 months to explore and gather naming traditions and heritage from the Congolese and African diaspora community in and around Manchester.

The National Lottery Heritage Fund has awarded a £77,457 grant for the project, thanks to money raised by National Lottery players.

Research participation opportunity – Calling all accessibility users

Opencast’s User Research team are seeking participants based in Manchester to take part in accessibility research. They’re hoping to chat to individuals with disabilities who use assistive technology to support with everyday life, and British Sign Language (BSL) users. Assistive technology could include, but isn’t limited to, screen readers, voice recognition, text-to-speech, and spellcheck tools.

As a thank you for taking part, you’ll get a £50 digital shopping voucher. Your feedback will support work in making services more accessible and user-friendly for all.

Pay and conditions in the GM VCSE sector survey

Research on the GM VCSE Workforce showed that salary is one of the most prominent barriers to recruitment in the sector. Salaries are not representative of the skills and knowledge needed for the role, and record levels of inflation and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis is continuing to put financial pressure on VCSE organisations – it’s no surprise that salary expectations are more crucial to jobseekers than ever.
