CAHN scoping of Caribbean and African community in Greater Manchester

CAHNThe Caribbean and African Health Network’s (CAHN) ambition is to work with Caribbean and African community in Greater Manchester to eradicate health inequalities within a generation.

The aim of this scoping exercise is to gather essential information that will provide an overview of where the Black community lives across the 10 localities of Greater Manchester.

DepaulThe And Breathe exhibition explores how people can interact with art to nurture their mental and emotional wellbeing.

It also considers the theme of care, particularly how we care for ourselves and our communities.

To understand the role a gallery can play in supporting those who care for others, Manchester Art Gallery asked the Depaul UK team to take part in a series of mindfulness sessions at the gallery.

Human Lending LibraryThe Human Lending Library®, which matches charity and social enterprise leaders with successful entrepreneurs as mentors, has opened in Manchester.

Launched by the charity Expert Impact, the initiative has seen more than 200 leaders of social enterprises and charities ‘borrow’ an Expert for advice on improving their organisations and increasing their social impact.

There are several good reasons behind this; they’re a good way of setting out our position as an organisation and sharing our values and culture; they can help us engage with the sector and start conversations; they’re more relaxed and personal than formal briefing papers or articles; and they give us a bit more pondering space than the 280 characters on Twitter.

Generation Homeless, a new report from Shelter, paints a shocking picture of the number of children who are homeless and in temporary accommodation. In the North West in Q1 2019, there were 4,150 children in temporary accommodation which is 1 in 394 children. This is a 385% increase in five years. Manchester has the 27th highest rate of homeless children in temporary accommodation in England, the only local authority in the top 30 outside of London, the South East and Luton.
