The physical effects of living in a cold, damp home are well recognised and rightly emphasised, but the mental health impacts of fuel poverty also deserve attention.

This course is designed for frontline staff who support vulnerable or low‑income individuals at risk of living in cold and damp conditions. It explores how fuel poverty can influence both physical and mental health, and how these challenges may affect the way individuals engage with the energy market.

Changing habits and behaviours can be challenging, yet the small decisions people make every day have a significant effect on their household energy use. To support households effectively, energy advisers need to feel confident in providing practical, behaviour‑focused guidance.

This course explores key theories and insights from the field of decision‑making, with a particular focus on simple, actionable techniques that can help advisers encourage households to act on the energy‑saving advice they receive.
