Funding bulletin October 2020

Before the pandemic, Europia offered face to face appointments to help those who needed to apply to continue to live in the UK lawfully following the EU settlement scheme. Of course they can no longer do this in person, so now the sessions are being held over the phone or remotely, providing advice and submitting applications on the clients’ behalf.

Spirit of Manchester Story Week 2020 - What does wellbeing mean to you?

The LAB Project delivers courses in employability and wellbeing, and in lieu of the Covid-19 crisis, has had to adapt quickly to take these online.

Courses run Monday to Friday over two weeks; and with the aim of exploring what wellbeing means to those that take part. This is supported through the use of different creative activities and the keen ability of facilitators to develop an environment based on sharing and peer support.

Spirit of Manchester Story Week 2020 – Yoga for calm and resilience

‘This helps people’s mental health and helps to build resilience to deal with what the outside world is throwing at you.’

Manchester City of Sanctuary has been running their sessions online throughout the pandemic, allowing people to stay connected and resilient during this difficult time. They have engaged with over 146 people over the past 6 months and deliver a range of simple sessions that provide a regular support network to their participants.

MSP Homeless Thematic Review Published

The Manchester Safeguarding Partnership (MSP) partners are clear about their responsibilities to learn from experience and improve their services as a result.

Findings from Safeguarding Adult Review (SARs) are an essential part of this process and provide an opportunity to reflect and learn.

On the 6 August 2020 the MSP published its Homeless Thematic Review.

Spirit of Manchester Story Week 2020 - "We provide a safe space"

"It is a safe space for people to let emotions out and process them in a calm, quiet way"

Juanita, Director of The Resonance Centre in Clayton, Manchester has just led a Yin Yoga session for 13 people on zoom. She had the the idea to set up a centre in 2016 to provide yoga and other activities that help to connect mind and body, and address conditions such as stress, anxiety and depression. 

Then Covid-19 lockdown happened.

Mental Wellbeing Grants Stage 3 launched
