Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service – Programme for Change consultation

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service is currently looking proposals for ways of restructuring its services. The main impacts of the proposals for the voluntary sector are: Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service
• Closure of some local fire stations
• A reduction in home visits, fire risk assessments for vulnerable people and the ability to refer these people into other community-based services

Greater Manchester Walking Festival Brings The ‘Great Walk Together’ 27 May 2019

The Great Manchester Walking Festival is delighted to be working with We Stand Together and The Great Get Together campaign inspired by Jo Cox, to organise the ‘Great Walk Together’ bank holiday Monday 27 May 2019. Bringing together 5 walks from across Greater Manchester to make up a star-shaped event, the aim is to connect walkers from five locations: Trafford, Salford, Stockport, Oldham and Manchester. All the walks then culminate at Manchester Art Gallery, Mosely Street, Manchester between 2-4pm, where walkers will be treated to free refreshments.

Manchester Holiday Buzz Playscheme Fund 2019–2020

The purpose of the Playscheme Fund is to complement the all year round play offer in Manchester. The funding aims to enable open access play activities, primarily over the Summer 2019 and Easter 2020 holidays, with a particular focus on; addressing gaps in provision, increasing the numbers of disabled children accessing universal play services, ensuring access to healthy food and increasing children’s opportunities to play outdoors. It is envisaged that this will be done through the delivery of play activities by the Voluntary and Community Sector in Manchester.

The Future of Accommodation with Care Services in Manchester

Manchester City Council is reviewing and exploring the way that Accommodation with Care services are provided for people in Manchester. The review focuses on developing a better understanding of the future needs of people in Manchester, when their needs are such that they will require support over and above what can be provided at home. For example, in a residential or nursing home, or supported accommodation arrangements.

Safeguarding in a youthwork setting - Action Learning Sets

Young Manchester and GMYN are inviting ten organisations to come together in a set of facilitated workshops to share learning on safeguarding practice in youth work. This programme will capture stories and experience and use this learning to develop training and resources for the wider youth sector.
