The Leader of the House of Commons, Andrea Leadsom MP visits Manchester to discover more about the exemplary Early Years services the city offers to young parents and families

As part of the visit, the MP, (who is leading a ministerial working group which will seek to identify gaps in available provision and make recommendations on how coordination across departments can be improved), met with Shelley Roberts, CEO of Home-Start Manchester, along with Rebecca, a young mum who has been receiving Home-Start support, and her volunteer Barbara.  Rebecca shared her story as how as an asylum- seeker fleeing domestic abuse, she had been receiving Home-Start support, and the difference it made to her life. Andrea Leadsom at Home-Start Manchester

VCSE Health and Wellbeing Fund 2019-20: Children and Young People's Mental Health – apply by 15 February 2019

A new fund has been announced by the government to support VCSE organisations that help children and young people with their mental health. Applications are invited from existing schemes to trial a new approach to helping children and young people with their mental health. Gov.uk

The Manchester Safeguarding Adults Board (MSAB) and the Manchester Safeguarding Children Board (MSCB) are statutory bodies made up of organisations that work together to safeguard and promote the welfare of adults, children, young people and their families. Together they make up the Manchester Safeguarding Boards and their role is to coordinate and ensure effective safeguarding across the city of Manchester.

Relate launches new counselling service for Greater Manchester

Relate is launching a new service in Greater Manchester for people experiencing problems in their relationships, and relationship counselling is now available at new locations in central Manchester, Sale, Stockport, and Wigan. The leading relationship charity experienced a peak in calls last month (a 51% increase on a typical month) from people whose relationships reached crisis point over the summer, and this half-term is encouraging  anyone facing difficulties in their relationships to seek support .
