Shared learning workshops in Greater Manchester

Wellbeing Our Way’s POW WOWs (shared learning workshops) bring together people working in charities, wider health and care organisations, and those with lived experience from across Greater Manchester to develop approaches which enable people to live well. They are a great opportunity for shared learning between staff working directly with people with long term health needs, as well as those who are commissioning and developing these approaches.

The Motor Neurone Disease Association is seeking expressions of interest to evaluate their pilot welfare benefits advice project

The Motor Neurone Disease Association is seeking expressions of interest from individuals, organisations or consortiums to undertake the evaluation of a six month pilot welfare benefits advice project run across Greater Manchester October 2015 – March 2016.

It is anticipated that this evaluation will be based on interviews with people with MND, carers and health and social care professionals to explore experiences of the project.

New funding for local HIV prevention

Public Health England (PHE) announces an HIV Prevention Innovation Fund for 2016 to 2017 of up to £600,000 for local prevention initiatives. The Fund will support local projects that offer new and innovative ways of delivering HIV prevention, aiming to turn around the ever increasing numbers of new HIV diagnoses among certain groups of the population.

Pink Ribbon Foundation

The Pink Ribbon Foundation's mission is to fund projects and provide financial support to UK charities which relieve the needs of people who are suffering from, or who have been affected by breast cancer or who work to advance the understanding of breast cancer, its early detection and treatment.

Grants of up to £5,000 are available for revenue, capital or project costs.

St Ann's Hospice launches Forget-Me-Not Appeal

Hundreds of people from across Greater Manchester will be remembering their loved ones as part of a very special appeal this Spring, in support of local charity St Ann’s Hospice.

The Forget-Me-Not appeal gives people the chance to receive a special wooden keepsake and, if they wish, to attend a service to remember friends or family members they can no longer be with, whilst making a donation to St Ann’s.
