Ex-smokers needed for a Making Smoking History campaign

Work has now started to develop a new Greater Manchester-wide quit smoking campaign, which will be launching in March next year.

The campaign, from Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership, will have the ‘real voices’ of Greater Manchester people front and centre and their creative agency are now looking for ex-smokers and their families who would be prepared to share their stories as part of the campaign.

On 14 November in Manchester, arts organisation Made by Mortals, premiered their new piece of community theatre ‘Ears Against Loneliness’. Professional and participatory artists performed together to shed light on the loneliness epidemic currently sweeping the UK. Alongside this, the #EarsAgainstLoneliness social media campaign is asking the public to ‘tweet your ear’ and has also begun to have an impact. Made by Mortals

The plan is to make long-term changes that will help people affected by cancer get the support they need in the community.

Extended flash round of mini-grants available through Macc's Sharing Wellness Campaign

As part of our ongoing Manchester-wide conversation about mental wellbeing and Sharing Wellness campaign, we are now offering an extended flash round of mini grants of between £500 and £1000 to VCSE groups. The campaign is supported by Manchester Health & Care Commissioning through its Mental Health Grants Programme.The deadline for completed application forms is by 5pm on 23rd November 2018.

The Venn Diagram of Life: Sharing Our Wellness

As part of our Sharing Wellness campaign, we have encouraged our staff, volunteers and the people we work with to discuss what keeps them well. I found this anonymous submission in my inbox and thought it was a perfect example of how staying resilient during difficult periods of life is a personal process, and is often supported by small, frequent acts of self-care.
