NHS Charities were established to receive and manage charitable funds to support healthcare in the NHS. They are typically linked to individual NHS providers (mainly hospital trusts) and range from Great Ormond Street to residual historical funds.
The Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund is a registered charity and was established to promote, enhance, improve and protect both the natural and built environment in the local community. The Trustees award grants of a maximum of £3,000.
In 2011/12, Manchester Airport is contributing £100,000 which is further enhanced by income from fines imposed on airlines when their aircraft exceed noise limits. These funds are then used to support neighbourhood and community projects throughout the area.
For nearly a year now, I've been a member of the 'shadow' Manchester Health and Wellbeing Board, representing the voluntary and community sector. This is a new body which was formed under the new NHS and Social Care Act which introduces the Coalition Government's changes to the way health and social care services are structured across England. There must be one Board in each Local Authority area. The Department of Health defines the role of the Health and Wellbeing Board as follows:
DEP works with teachers, trainee teachers, youth workers and other educators to promote diversity, global education and sustainable development.

The Department for Education’s National Prospectus Grants Programme 2013-15 is now open to applications. Applicants are invited to submit proposals to improve outcomes for children, young people and families with a particular emphasis on early intervention and supporting the most disadvantaged.
The British Red Cross is looking to reach out to new members for the Men’s Group (Bridge).
The group is currently accepting new referrals from refugee and asylum seeking men from Greater Manchester areas.
Self referrals or referrals from other agencies are accepted.
Bridge aims to help refugee and asylum seeking men aged 18 + facing isolation, disorientation, boredom and loneliness.
The Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and BIG Lottery Fund (Big) are to provide £100 million in grants for public parks over the next three years.
The Parks for People programme is designed to encourage more people to get involved in the management of their local part. The new funding will, for the first time, include projects that conserve historic cemeteries.
Parks for People is for projects related to historic parks and cemeteries in the UK. You can apply for a grant from £100,000 to £5million.
The Big Lottery Fund (BIG) has set up the Advice Services Transition Fund to enable local not-for-profit providers of advice services in England to continue to give vital help to people and communities.
Manchester City Council has a strategy to become of the world’s leading digital cities by 2020. One of the ways the Council can achieve this is through their Go ON Manchester campaign to help businesses and individuals to get online and improve their digital skills. This is a long term campaign, with the first phase aimed at local businesses and organisations.
Currently only 14 per cent of small businesses sell products and services online. This means that many organisations are missing opportunities to improve sales, generate more business and create new jobs.
