This course is designed to provide trustees with safeguarding awareness, understanding of their roles and responsibilities and confidence to promote best safeguarding practice within their organisations.

This introductory course explains the key trustee responsibilities for safeguarding, following guidance from the Charity Commission.

Safeguarding is a fundamental part of operating as a charity for the public benefit. Trustees must take reasonable steps to protect people who come into contact with their charity from harm.

This course will help trustees embed safeguarding in their governance. The course also explores common safeguarding risks trustees should be aware of, and how to manage personal behaviour and relationships.

Delivered by the Barnardo's Central Trauma Informed Practice Team, this 2-hour webinar deepens practitioners understanding of how adversity and developmental trauma can influence children’s emotional regulation, behaviour and relationships. Building on existing knowledge of ACEs, trauma theory and neurodiversity, the session explores how trauma shows up in practice and what it means to respond in ways that promote safety, trust, connection and cultural consideration.

This session explores the lived and learnt experiences of LGBTQ+ young people in sport, sharing insights and lessons that can be applied in other contexts outside of Sport.

Using over 35 years experience in the LGBTQ+ Youth Sector, Sally Carr will share the potential of Sport to safeguarding LGBTQ+ young people in school, club and community settings if done well.

Recognising Sport also has the potential to be sites of hostility and exclusion for LGBTQ+ young people, where safeguarding protections are neglected and harm can be caused.

Exploring the development of Growing Up: A Guide to Female Puberty for Autistic People, with a focus on how it supports understanding of personal boundaries, consent, and safe relationships. We will discuss the importance of accessible, autism-informed resources in CSE prevention, and how empowering autistic young people with clear, relatable information can build confidence and reduce vulnerability.


 

In this session, Adam will provide an overview of the County Lines model of drugs supply, the types of exploitation of children and vulnerable adults involved in County Lines, emerging themes and trends and resources that are available for safeguarding professionals.
