In Previous Years

See how we have celebrated Volunteers' Week in previous years!

In 2022:

Similarly to the previous year, we held all of our activities online. As well as two virtual volunteering fairs, we held a 'Volunteers' Week' themed VCF for organisations during the week.

Volunteer Recognition Certificate Scheme

An incredible 887 certificates were sent out to recognise, celebrate and appreciate volunteers in Manchester. Photos were shared by organisations on Twitter showing their volunteers receiving these: Archives+No. 93 Wellbeing Centre and Revive.

Volunteer Stories

In 2020:

We cancelled our planned training sessions and workshops due to Covid-19. Celebrations looked very different to usual and we focused much of our effort on sharing the stories of some of the incredible volunteers who had a critical role during the pandemic.

Volunteer Recognition Certificate Scheme

An incredible 718 certificates were requested to recognise, celebrate and appreciate volunteers in Manchester.

Volunteer Stories

We collated and shared volunteers' stories throughout the week on social media:

In 2019:

#5VolunteerRoles Twitter Party

We wanted to highlight the diverse nature of volunteer opportunties and how they shape peoples' lives so led a conversation over on Twitter, where we encouraged people to share 5 volunteers roles they've had using #5VolunteerRoles

Resources

Our Volunteers' Week project planning booklet gives you all you need to know to plan and deliver a brilliant and impactful Volunteers' Week event or campaign.

Workshops and training

To help organisations get ready to celebrate Volunteers' week in style, we delivered a series of workshops including Events and Project Planning for Volunteers' Week, Storytelling Training for Volunteers' Week  and Social Media for Beginners.

Volunteer Stories

We loved reading stories of volunteers from across Manchester - from different backgrounds, bringing different perspectives and life experiences to volunteering, all with different volunteer roles in different organisations and who got involved for a myriad of different reasons.

Volunteer Recognition Certificate Scheme

An incredible 900 volunteer certificates were signed by the Lord Mayor of Manchester to reward and recognise the contribution that volunteers made to some of the voluntary organisations in Manchester.

In 2018:

Manchester TV came along to our Volunteers' Week fair at Manchester Central Library.
