Big Potential

Big Potential, a Big Lottery Fund grant fund, will deliver approximately £20m of grant funding over 3 years to eligible VCSE organisations with the aim of improving the sustainability, capacity and scale of VCSE organisations in order that they may deliver greater social impact.

The programme aims to raise awareness of the social investment market and support VCSEs who want to prepare themselves for social investment or winning contracts.

Big Potential has two possible application routes - Breakthrough and Advanced.

The Project Development Grant (PDG) scheme is intended to assist an organisation to cover some of the costs of developing and co-ordinating a project and taking it towards the start of work on site.

To qualify, an organisation must have established that the end use of the project is likely to be viable and have decided to take the project forward.

The Project Development Grant (PDG) can cover some of the costs of developing and co-ordinating a project from after basic viability has been established up until work starts on site.

The Project Viability Grant (PVG) scheme is intended to be an initial assessment of whether it is viable to bring a historic building back into a sustainable use. In particular it aims to enable applicants to explore the evidence of need for a suggested use, or uses, for a building and the sustainability of that use, with a view to the likely requirements of grant funders.

Applications to Big Give Christmas Challenge 2015 now open

The Christmas Challenge is the UK’s biggest online match funding campaign which helps UK registered charities raise funds for their cause. The Christmas Challenge takes place every December.

The Big Give offers supporters of participating charities the chance to have their donation doubled on thebiggive.org.uk when the Christmas Challenge Goes live in December. For example, a £100 online donation made to a participating charity during the Christmas Challenge can be doubled to become £200.
