Greater Manchester launches campaign to tackle Child Sexual Exploitation

The ‘It’s not okay’ campaign has been created by Project Phoenix, a unique collaboration of public and third sector partners throughout Greater Manchester.

Project Phoenix aspire to be national leaders in the approach they’re taking to protect young people from Child Sexual Exploitation and prosecute offenders.

Central Manchester Clinical Commissioning Group - Community Engagement Events

There have been many changes to the NHS in recent years. One of those was the formation of Clinical Commissioning Groups, or CCGs in April 2013. CCGs are responsible for commissioning the best health services for the area they represent. This means that they plan, arrange and fund local health services.

Central Manchester CCG would like to invite you to attend one of their community engagement events taking place throughout October. You will be able to listen to their plans for the next 5 years and tell them how you would like to be involved in helping us to achieve these.

Consultation - Strengthening the law on domestic abuse

Domestic abuse is an appalling form of cruelty. Many people still do not see it as the serious crime it is. The Government defines domestic abuse as:
“any incident or pattern of incidents of controlling, coercive, threatening behaviour, violence or abuse between those aged 16 or over who are, or have been, intimate partners or family members regardless of gender or sexuality.”

The behaviour captured in this definition includes:
“…a pattern of acts of assault, threats, humiliation and intimidation or other abuse that is used to harm, punish, or frighten their victim”.

Changes to how Manchester City Council deliver advocacy

Manchester City Council are working with the NHS and other agencies to address changes in the law that affect the care and support needs of adults: The Care Act 2014.

Manchester Inspection of Safeguarding Arrangements - Judged to be inadequate

Manchester Safeguarding Arrangements have been branded inadequate by OFSTED in their recent inspection of Children’s Services.

It cited:
• Long backlogs in processing referrals (500 children)
• High case loads of social workers
• Concerns that learning from serious incidents was not being implemented.

Extending Shared Lives Services in Manchester
