Invite to meet Cllr Sue Murphy and Cllr Paul Andrews to discuss the Council’s budget options

Councillor Sue Murphy, Deputy Leader of the Council and lead Member for the Voluntary Sector, and Councillor Paul Andrews, Executive Member for Adult Health and Wellbeing, are offering voluntary and community sector organisations in the city the opportunity to put forward their views on the Council's budget options.

Our open data sets have been updated and we’ve released even more volunteering data

We have updated our open data sets on the groups we have on our database which shows which ward they are based, their equalities focus and their annual turnover.

Our volunteering data has also been updated and we are pleased to be releasing even more data about the volunteers we have been in contact with. As well as showing the ward where our volunteers live, their gender and the numbers of volunteers we have been in contact with we are also releasing data which shows the age, ethnicity and employment status of the volunteers registered with us.

Stand Up for Manchester Rally - 3 February

Organised by Labour councillors, the rally is aimed at voluntary groups, trade unions, churches, charities and individuals who feel Manchester has had a raw deal.

Cllr. Pat Karney is inviting everybody from across the voluntary and community sector to join the Labour Councillors at the rally.

Safeguarding Policies update

The Greater Manchester Safeguarding Procedures was updated at the end of November. The procedures have been written so as to be part of the wider goal of improving the overall wellbeing of children and provide a framework for an integrated approach to safeguarding children from harm. Briefing on the Budget Options 2015-2017 VCS information event on 1 December 2014

Over 100 voluntary and community sector groups (VCS) from across Manchester gathered on 1 December 2014 at Manchester Town Hall to find out more about what is going to be a devastating round of funding cuts. A diverse group of VCS organisations attended including local neighbourhood care groups, housing associations, cultural groups, youth groups and advice and advocacy organisations.

Mental Health Services in Crisis

Manchester City Council are planning massive cuts to services which help maintain positive mental health and resilience and cutting all services that support people recovering from severe and enduring mental health conditions. At the same time the NHS in Manchester is planning to discharge (step down to primary care) up to 800 people from community mental health services.
