Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and organised volunteer with a passion for sustainable fashion, community development, and ethical supply chain research. This role will focus specifically on bridging the gap between our local efforts (repair, upcycling) and the complex, often non-transparent global system of used clothing disposal. A core goal is to research and expose the ethical concerns surrounding the second-hand clothing export industry.

Summary: Literacy Champions at the Literacy Trust are self-led volunteers who are passionate about making a difference in their community. Volunteers will receive an initial induction and are then provided with resources and guidance to help them spread the word on the importance of literacy, share literacy activities and resources, go along to groups and events, and to share the magic of books through community swaps, borrowing and gifting. As part of our work Early Years work in Gorton & Abbey Hey we will also be offering additional training around Speech and Language support for families in the community. This will include training around the local offer and referral routes and the National literacy Trust programme, First Words Together including talking tips for under twos. There will be several opportunities to support this work via parent workshops, events, storytelling sessions and more.

Summary: EMERGE is a charity that has been active in the practice and promotion of the 3Rs principles (reduce, reuse and recycle) since 1996. We carry out a kerbside recycling service and reclaimed wood workshop, and run the Greater Manchester operation of the national food charity FareShare, which tackles food waste and fights food poverty by redistributing surplus (overstocked) food to good causes.

Since 2008, we have redistributed food from our regional centre, based on New Smithfield Market, Openshaw, to hundreds of community initiatives.
