Summary: EMERGE is a charity that has been active in the practice and promotion of the 3Rs principles (reduce, reuse and recycle) since 1996. We carry out a kerbside recycling service and reclaimed wood workshop, and run the Greater Manchester operation of the national food charity FareShare, which tackles food waste and fights food poverty by redistributing surplus (overstocked) food to good causes.

Since 2008, we have redistributed food from our regional centre, based on New Smithfield Market, Openshaw, to hundreds of community initiatives.
