NCVO: Introduction to EDI in charities (2 days)

This course introduces the key principles of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and how to apply them to your organisation.

This training will support senior leaders and trustees to embed EDI in their organisation’s culture, practice and services.

Concessionary pass trial on buses – Free, unlimited bus travel for older and disabled concessionary pass holders

Throughout August, Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) are running a trial to allow older and disabled TfGM concessionary pass holders to travel on buses before 9.30am for free.

There’s no need for you to do anything. Just tap your pass on the bus card reader as normal and enjoy free travel 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The trial is just for travel on bus, and does not include tram or train.

Understand more about the psychology of loneliness and social isolation

Join the Good Practice Mentors team in this online session which shares how Time to Shine in Leeds, and the 13 other Ageing Better partners across England set out to use a range of techniques to reduce social isolation and loneliness in people 50+. Along the way they found out more about how social isolation and chronic loneliness can affect people, and some techniques that worked to reduce loneliness.

The Open Doors Project (free room booking)   

The Open Doors Project is a pilot scheme established by the Office for Social Responsibility in collaboration with Manchester Museum and Alliance Manchester Business School. The scheme allows community members to book meeting rooms totally free-of-charge on the Oxford Road campus. These room bookings are open to voluntary and charity organisations, CICs and social enterprises, community groups, and residents’ associations.
