Volunteer Coordinator Forum – May 2019

Having been at the Volunteers Centre Manchester for eight months, I decided it was about time for me to learn more about the voluntary Trustee role.
Across the UK, communities are already doing incredible things to support one another every day – from running youth groups and staffing food banks to hosting local events and neighbourhood initiatives.
From 13 – 20 May, A Million Acts of Hope is bringing these everyday acts together – showing that care, connection and community are stronger than the divisions that often dominate the headlines.
The Community Hub is now live, offering ideas, resources and simple ways for community groups to take part.

Why taking part matters
The State of the VCSE Sector research is a major piece of work mapping the size, scope, diversity, and impact of voluntary, community and social enterprise organisations across Greater Manchester.
Your contribution helps ensure the activities, needs, challenges, and strengths of organisations like yours are fully represented. The stronger the evidence, the stronger our shared voice when advocating for funding, resources, and recognition.
We are looking for someone who is proactive, enthusiastic and real team player. This post is a temporary role to provide continuity and cover while a member of staff is on a career break.
Volunteer Centre Manchester is part of Manchester Community Central. We support people across the city to get involved in volunteering and support organisations to involve volunteers well. This includes providing a brokerage service, running drop-ins and advice sessions, supporting good practice, and working with partners across the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector.
On 12th February organisations from across Greater Manchester will be coming back together at Methodist Central Hall for the Greater Manchester Citizens 2026 Delegates Assembly to share stories, shape priorities, and take action together. The Assembly will bring together their broad-based alliance of faith, educational, housing, health and third sector organisations to build on their wins over the last 12 months.
Members and non-members of Greater Manchester Citizens are very welcome.
From 2nd - 8th March, a week-long celebration for repair will spread across Greater Manchester. Repair Week is about helping people fix instead of throw, so we can love things for longer and reduce our impact on the planet.
Do you have a regular repair event to promote?
Have a great idea for a workshop to share your skills?
Host an event and help your community fix their stuff.
It doesn’t have to be fancy just you, your know-how, and a little time.
Why join in?
