Understanding Needs and Improving Services in Minority Communities Consultation

Faith Network for Manchester (FN4M) is carrying out research this year about what concerns people have for their communities and the city. FN4M are interested in the concerns of everyone, but especially those in the faith communities.

Could you help in the first stage of this research by promoting or joining one of two initial discussion groups taking place on:
Thursday 12 June 2014, at 12pm to 1.30pm and 7pm to 8.30pm at the Manchester Multifaith Centre is at Ada House, 77 Thompson Street, M4 5FY.

Age-friendly Manchester - Information and Communications Project Questionnaire

Age-friendly Manchester (formerly known as Valuing Older People) works to improve the quality of life for older people in Manchester. They want to know how older people find out about things in Manchester, such as transport and social events.

Age-friendly Manchester have a questionnaire which is designed to find out about the kinds of information you get and how you would like to access it.

Small community and voluntary groups, registered charities and social enterprises, with preference given to organisations with a turnover of no more than £300,000 per year in each of the last 2 years can apply.

Help the Homeless Grant Scheme – Deadlines for 2014

Help The Homeless makes grants to charitable organisations with the aim of returning homeless people to the community and enabling them to resume a normal life.

Grants from Help the Homeless are available to small and medium-sized charitable organisations for capital costs of projects with grants of up to £5,000.

All applications must relate to projects that assist individuals in their return to mainstream society, rather than simply offer shelter or other forms of sustenance.

Cash Grants 2014/2015 Didsbury East and Didsbury West wards

The new Cash Grants Programme for 2014-15 has now been launched. This funding is available to spend on projects in the ward that meet identified local priorities. The Cash Grant Fund is here to help your good ideas take root and grow.

The Fund is open to formal established groups, voluntary groups and other community groups, as well as groups of residents working together for the first time. School Parent Teacher Associations can also apply if they have the support of local residents and parents and their project will benefit the wider community and not just the school.

Part of the Picture - LGB Drugs and Alcohol Research

The Lesbian and Gay Foundation (LGF) are delighted to let you know of the launch of Part of the Picture: findings from a 5 year study into lesbian, gay and bisexual people’s alcohol and drug use. A suite of reports presenting the study’s findings is available online here: www.lgf.org.uk/potp.

The Part of the Picture (POTP) research project is a five-year partnership between The LGF and the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), funded by the Big Lottery Fund's research programme between 2009-2014.

Manchester City Council are carrying out a 30 day consultation of Sure Start services for under-fives.

Manchester City Council are improving services for the city’s young children and their families and are giving children a better start, reducing inequalities, and supporting those in greatest need. As part of these improvements they want your views on proposals to change the way Sure Start children’s centres are run, whether you use the centres or not.

Sport England Inspired Facilities – Deadlines for 2014

Inspired Facilities is a £110 million programme from Sport England that funds the renovation and modernisation of local sports facilities.

Inspired Facilities is focused on making it easier for local community and volunteer groups to improve and refurbish sports clubs or transform non-sporting venues into modern grassroots sport facilities. Tired, worn out, old facilities make it harder for people to start or keep doing sport. They can also be more expensive to run and difficult to maintain.

The Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund – Deadlines for 2014

The Manchester Airport Community Trust Fund is a registered charity and was established to promote, enhance, improve and protect both the natural and built environment in our local community. The Trustees award grants of a maximum of £3,000.

Each year Manchester Airports Group contributes £100,000 to the Fund; any fines levied at aircraft that have breached their stringent noise limits are also paid in to the Fund. These funds are then used to support neighbourhood and community projects throughout the area.
