My two colleagues and I have just come from dropping off donations at Emmeline’s Pantry. Here at Macc we decided that one of the ways we could practice what we preach is by supporting a local Christmas Appeal, we asked for suggestions and picked at random. Emmeline’s Pantry was the name that came out of the hat.
Extended flash round of mini-grants available through Macc's Sharing Wellness Campaign
As part of our ongoing Manchester-wide conversation about mental wellbeing and Sharing Wellness campaign, we are now offering an extended flash round of mini grants of between £500 and £1000 to VCSE groups. The campaign is supported by Manchester Health & Care Commissioning through its Mental Health Grants Programme.The deadline for completed application forms is by 5pm on 23rd November 2018.
Spirit of Manchester Story - The plants grow and so does my sense of community involvement
Every Tuesday, the dedicated Friends of Ladybarn Park voluntary action gardening group meet in order to enhance and maintain the beauty of the lovely shared space in the heart of the busy community of Fallowfield. Facilities are aimed at all age groups and include a children’s playground, multi-use sports area and a bowling green.
The surrounding parkland, including the landmark ‘Poplar Walk’, are carefully tended by enthusiastic volunteers, and at 85, Doreen Robinson is one of the most well-known and committed gardeners.

Spirit of Manchester Story - Vital for us all to work together in support of carers
Today saw the relaunch of Himmat, a support centre for Asian Parent Carers. It was recognised that culturally-specific services were needed and Himmat began providing these in 1995.
Harpurhey Together
This is a partnership project between Parasol, bringing hope and friendship for European nationals, and Harpurhey Neighbourhood Project, working with the community for over 40 years.
This event will bring together local people with new residents from Central and Eastern Europe to share ideas, experience and future plans.
There will be a free lunch on arrival and free parking is available.
