No, we’re not calling ourselves ‘Big Macc’

I've finally got a blog of my own! Of course the immediate problem is what insightful and entertaining pearls of wisdom I should try to create for my first post.

One question I get asked a lot is "What does ‘MACC’ stand for?” And I usually reply by starting to talk about values until it dawns on me that they're actually just asking about the acronym M.A.C.C.

From April 2013 the Government is introducing big changes to the way benefits are paid. In particular, the new size criteria for social housing and Universal Credit will have big impact on how tenants receive their Housing Benefit.

Southway Housing Trust Project are holding an advice and information afternoon to provide tenants, professionals, volunteers and anyone else interested in the changes with more detail on how the changes could affect them.

Booking is essential.

The Olympic Torch Relay in Manchester

The Olympic Flame comes to Manchester as local residents carry it through it the city streets ahead of London 2012.

Residents will be able to cheer the torchbearers on and celebrate work they have done to improve life in their neighbourhoods when the Olympic flame comes through Manchester on Saturday June 23.

The torch relay will come into Manchester from Salford at around 5.40pm on June 23 and will travel along Elizabeth Street, Queens Road, Cheetham Hill Road and Miller Street before a 15 minute stop outside the Co-op headquarters on Balloon Street just before 6pm.

MRSN Refugee Cultural Festival

At the festival there will be food from various countries, and stalls from Refugee Community Organisations and Refugee Supporting Agencies. There will be music and dance from various refugee community groups. There also be a traditional Coffee Ceremony from Ethiopia.
