Manchester Youth Market test trading initiative

MakeMCR are working with We Love MCR and MCR Markets, on raising funds for a new project, the Manchester Youth Market test-trading initiative and will be fund raising until 11 September.

We Love Manchester has pledged £29,247.00 to set up a new Manchester Youth Market that will pop up every month in a surprising locations where Mancunians aged 16 - 30 will be able to try out their business ideas and showcase their businesses.

People in Manchester urged to open their hearts and homes to vulnerable adults

People in Manchester are being encouraged to consider opening their home to a vulnerable adult as an innovative new service is launched in the city.

Award-winning social enterprise PSS and Manchester City Council have teamed up to unveil Shared Lives (or Adult Placement) - where vulnerable adults and young people over 16 live at home with a specially recruited and trained carer and their family.

Collyhurst Big Local’s small grants scheme is for projects that will celebrate Collyhurst, encourage people in Collyhurst to come together and improve the quality of life for residents in the area. There are grants of up to £500 to give away for ideas that you’d like to put in place, or to help start a community project.

Homeless charity, The Booth Centre, recognised with Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service

The Booth Centre, an advice and activities based day centre for homeless people, which this year celebrates its 20th birthday has been honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK.

Do you want to help people learn English? Why not host a Talk English Course in your centre

Manchester Adult Education Service are looking for organisations that want to get involved with Talk English to host informal beginner ESOL from September/October 2015 – March 2016. Manchester Adult Education Service will support your organisation to deliver the course which will be taught by a pair of trained volunteers.

Housing related support: People First Housing Association

People First Housing Association have a community support service offering housing related support to people from BME communities with issues around mental health, memory issues/ dementia, drug and alcohol issues, issues around homelessness and tenancy sustainment. Other people with similar problems can also apply. All ages are welcome.
