Code of Practice on Sub-Contracting with Primes

NCVO and Serco have jointly written a code of practice to cover the relationships between the private sector and the voluntary sector. Its scope is wider than sub-contracting but in practice for many voluntary organisations this has been the only time that they have had contact with Prime Contractors. The experience has often not been a positive one.

Third Sector Excellence Awards 2013

The Awards aim to reward examples of outstanding campaigns, strategies, projects and performance, backed up by hard evidence of success.

All UK-based voluntary organisations – registered charities, not-for-profit organisations, social enterprises and campaigning groups - are eligible to enter.

Entries must cover work carried out during the period 1 May 2012 to 30 April 2013

Museum Meets - A Sustainable Future for Manchester discussion events

The Faculty of Life Sciences at the University of Manchester and the Manchester Museum are hosting a series of discussion events exploring the development of a sustainable future for Manchester.

These events will bring together experts from outside the university and academic researchers to present the pertinent issues, ideas and solutions surrounding transport, clothing, housing, biodiversity and food.

The aim of this newly created post is to improve commissioning between the public sector and the voluntary and community sector (VCS), focusing on Manchester and Greater Manchester commissioning. My focus is on the process: the way consultation is carried out; how specifications are written; when and how are decisions about recommissioning made; how information about new commissions are disseminated; commissioning processes that build on the strengths of the VCS; how appropriate forms are for VCS organisations.

Art Project Bus up for sale

The Art Bus was created by the Creative Hands Foundation to travel all over Manchester providing free art and music performances and workshops for local communities inspired by the music and contemporary art of West Africa in the We Face Forward exhibition, 2012 (at Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester Art Gallery, Gallery of Costume and Manchester Museum).  From mid-May until September the Art Bus travelled across the city and beyond.  It appeared at a huge range of venues in local communities from libraries to Café's to Schools.  The bus promoted the exhibition and provided exciting music an
