The Our Manchester Voluntary Sector Programme Team have been undertaking a scenario planning process for the Targeted Fund priority 'Creating an age friendly city that promotes good health and well-being for people in mid and later life' with representatives from Manchester Health and Care Commissioning officers. 
The Greater Manchester Older People’s Network (GMOPN) are excited to be launching a new Positive Ageing Imagery Project. The project will be looking at why stereotypical images of wrinkly hands that reinforce negativity around ageing are used in the media to represent older people. We want to replace these images with more positive ones that celebrate older people and ageing. Helen Morris, who will be volunteering with the GMOPN over the coming months, will be facilitating this project and is looking for older people who are interested in getting involved.
Safeguarding adults is about protecting those at risk of harm (vulnerable adults) from suffering abuse or neglect. 
It is recognised that certain groups of people may be more likely to experience abuse and less able to access services or support to keep themselves safe.

Ambition for Ageing’s new report written by partners at MICRA, Social Infrastructure: How shared spaces make communities work, argues that to reduce social isolation, we need a diversity of social infrastructure to ensure chance social encounters with a diversity of people.
Victoria and I attended an Ambition for Ageing seminar yesterday by Kate Jopling where she presented the findings from a recent publication ‘Age-friendly and inclusive volunteering: Review of community contributions in later life' by the Centre for Aging Better in partnership with the Department for Digital, Media, Culture and Sport (DCMS).
The Ambition for Ageing Equalities Board has launched a new briefing titled Working Inclusively to Make Communities Age-Friendly. The briefing asserts that equality, diversity and inclusivity are core to understanding and reducing social isolation, and emphasises key ways to embed inclusion in building age-friendly communities:

In the course of this, the London-based publisher emphasised that wanting to reach outside their heavily London-focused circle was a big priority for them. Manchester Cares are running free Social Clubs for people aged 65 and over. All events are hosted by younger people in their 20s and 30s who want to meet you and hear your stories. Each event is free and refreshments will be provided. Clubs with limited capacity have a lottery system in place to make sure it is as fair as possible.
Carers Federation are a registered charity, established in 1992 and are a City and Guilds approved training centre delivering accredited training. 
The new Online Adult Safeguarding Competency Training Module is based upon the National Competency Framework for front line staff and volunteers working with vulnerable adults.
