Health Equity is when everyone can reach their full health and wellbeing potential without unfair differences. Manchester City Council know from their research that some communities who already experience discrimination and disadvantage are also more likely to experience worse health outcomes.

Micro-grants are being made available for community groups and local voluntary sector organisations within communities who are part of the UK Network of Age-friendly Communities, to take part in Centre for Ageing Betters new annual Action Day to tackle ageism, as part of a pilot programme.

Preventing falls over the life course is a priority for us in Greater Manchester. Falls can be a crucial indicator of poor health and wellbeing in mid to later life and prevention interventions can support individuals to age well.

Are you an older person aged 50 or over living in Greater Manchester?

Join Greater Manchester Older People’s Mental Health Network at one of their inspiring and creative poetry workshops where they will be exploring thoughts and feelings through poetry, whilst learning from each other in a safe and friendly space, and writing some great poetry too.

Sky is encouraging older people’s organisations and charities in Greater Manchester and around the UK to apply to set up and run a ‘Sky Up Digital Hub’ and receive free public Wi-Fi for three years and devices. The digital hubs provide support to people over the age of 65 who may lack skills and confidence to get online safely, offering them training and advice to make the most of online services and communication apps.

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority and Good Things Foundation have joined forces to produce a brand-new practical guide to support more people to get online and benefit from doing digital in later life.
