GM Mayor Disabled People's Panel is open for applications

The Greater Manchester Coalition of Disabled People (GMCDP) has been commissioned by the Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham to establish a Disabled People’s Panel drawn from organisations across the Ten Boroughs of the City Region. The Panel will become an independent voice once fully established by the end of the first year. It will advise, consult, and propose to improve policy and the lives of disabled people across Greater Manchester. There is an attached a summary sheet that gives more detail about the Panel.

New Disabled Women’s Peer Support Project

Breakthrough UK are inviting disabled women who connected over Breakthrough’s Democracy Disability Devolution Events to join a new weekly peer group. It will be a safe space where disabled women can relax and enjoy themselves in a welcoming, accessible and friendly group. Members will lead the group and decide how it is run. Breakthrough staff and volunteers will attend to offer support and provide any training needed on running groups.

Money Talks

Recently I had a very nice letter inviting me to write for a publication (quite high status) and a follow-up phone conversation to explore further. In the course of this, the London-based publisher emphasised that wanting to reach outside their heavily London-focused circle was a big priority for them. Who can guess the next bit of the conversation?
