Would you like to share a story of your activity to tackle the climate emergency, as part of the 2019 Spirit of Manchester Story Week in September?
We are looking for 20 VCSE organisations to share their stories during the week of 23-27 September.
Manchester artist, Meha Hindocha, is currently completing an artist's residency at the Old Bank Residency which will take the form of a large scale mural produced for NOMA, celebrating Manchester's hidden stories. Like Manchester, this mural will be constantly moving, shifting, and changing as hoardings are applied around the exciting development of the NOMA neighbourhood. It is hoped that the mural will offer a fresh perspective of the history and development of our city.
I started writing something shortly after the new Prime Minister has made his first speech on the steps of Downing Street. Another premiership set to be dominated by Brexit. It has paralysed national policy and politics for the last 3 years and it looks like this is set to continue for the foreseeable future...but the phrase which is ringing in my ears from the speech is “the doubters, the doomsters, the gloomsters”. I suspect many politicians would put charities and campaigners in those categories.
NHS Blood and Transplant has launched a funding call to enable organisations to apply for funding to positively engage local communities in organ donation, address myths and barriers, and increase support for organ donation among black, Asian, mixed race and minority ethnic communities. 
The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work done in their own communities. It was created in 2002 to celebrate the anniversary of The Queen's coronation. It is the MBE for volunteer groups. 
Monday 22 July 2019 marks 100 years (to the day) of the formation of Manchester and Salford Council of Social Service. Macc, Salford CVS and Gaddum have worked together to mark the occasion with a celebratory event at the People’s History Museum. We felt it is important to mark 100 years of social action across the twin cities of Salford and Manchester.
The Caribbean and African Health Network (CAHN) will be honouring individuals and organisations for their contributions to the health and wellbeing of the Caribbean and African Community in Greater Manchester. Nominations will be accepted for those who through personal or professional efforts has made a difference to Caribbean and African people. 
Nominations close on 22 July 2019.
Europia offer free counselling and support for Eastern European Victims of Hate Crime 
Europia offer:
• free therapy for victims with Polish or Romanian (and other Eastern European languages) speaking therapists
• workshops on how to deal with hate crime for eastern European communities
• support with reporting the crime to the police
• general advice and support
Following on from the Manchester BME and GM BME joint networks event, the Manchester BME are holding their AGM and Hidden Gems Awards – awarding BME groups, their staff and volunteers on 19 July, 14:30 - 17:00 at the St Thomas Centre, Ardwick Green North, Ardwick, M12 6FZ. 
In 2020 People’s History Museum (PHM) will launch a year long programme of new exhibitions, events, learning activities and creative collaborations that will explore the theme of migration.
