The Youth and Play Fund is now at the stage of contract negotiation. All successful groups have been informed of how much they have been awarded. Based on reports that Macc has received (from successful organisations) all groups have received less than they applied for, ranging from small cuts of 5% to 33% or more.

Greater Manchester Youth Network are looking for new members to join the Talent Match Youth Panel

What is Talent Match?
Talent Match is a new programme funded by the Big Lottery that will provide different projects across Greater Manchester for young people who are not in education, employment or training to move towards becoming employed.

Family Action's Manchester Young Carers Forum (MYCF) have recently been involved in a national Family Action campaign about young carers and school, entitled ‘Be Bothered’. As a result of this involvement the Forum have decided to undertake their own research, in the form of a survey, into young carers at school in Manchester aged between 8 and 18.

Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN) supports young people and youth involving organisations to participate, develop and achieve; with a focus on volunteering and social action. The organisation is part-way through the process of becoming a registered charity, which has included the stepping down of three executive board members. This has opened up the exciting opportunity to join the Board of Trustees, who oversee the development and running of GMYN.

The European Commission has published a new Call for Proposals for projects to promote cooperation in the youth sector between ‘Youth in Action’ programme countries and partner countries that are not neighbours of the European Union. This includes, for example, countries from Latin America, Africa, the Caribbean, Pacific and Asia.

Non-profit organisations working in the youth sector may apply for grants of up to 80% of eligible project costs to a maximum of €100,000. There is a total budget of €3 million this year.

The Co-operative was founded in part by five inspiring and determined young people and the impact of their innovation led to the creation of a global movement of shared and equal ownership that has fairness and honesty at its heart.

Drama Drop-in is a new group for young people who have never been to the Royal Exchange Theatre before.

The first session will take place at the Royal Exchange Theatre (near the Arndale in Manchester City Centre) on Friday 12th April, 5-6pm.

They are looking for young people with ideas and energy – you don’t need any experience to come along.

Union Street Media Arts CIC (USMA) have been working with Cedar Mount Academy (CMA) and Greater Manchester Police (GMP) to support pupils to raise awareness about the risks of gang involvement through media, film and performance. This is being done within their school, other schools and youth organisations, around Greater Manchester and beyond. The project was funded by the Home Office to carry out this piece of work under the Communities Against Guns, Gangs and Knives Fund.
