Manchester Deaf Centre – Introduction to British Sign Language

This is the perfect option if you would like a taster of BSL before committing to a full BSL Level 1 course.

There are plenty of BSL courses out there, but how many of them are taught in real time by a qualified, experienced teacher? The refreshing thing about our courses is that they are delivered face to face here at the centre. You will be taught by one of our wonderful teachers who is a native British Sign Language user.

This is a 5 week in person course suitable for complete beginners. Manchester Deaf Centre run several cohorts throughout the year.

Manchester Deaf Centre – 20 hour refresher British Sign Language

This course is ideal for learners preparing to progress onto Level 1 or those wanting a refresher. Learners should already be familiar with fingerspelling and have some basic BSL vocabulary.

Eligibility: Aged 19+, low income or on benefits, and living in Greater Manchester.

January 2026 classes (10 weeks): 21st January 2026, 11am-1pm and 1.30pm-3.30pm
Each class has 15 spaces available.
