Have your say on how nature recovery is prioritised across Greater Manchester

Residents and businesses across Greater Manchester can now have their say on ambitious proposals to protect green spaces and support the natural environment for generations to come.

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is inviting people to give their views on the city-region’s first Local Nature Recovery Strategy, which has been developed to address the loss of nature and biodiversity across Greater Manchester in recent decades.

Feeling creative? Groundwork is running a series of free workshops to learn new skills around upcycling and repurposing of textile waste, turning unusable into new creations.

Tree Council Branching Out Fund

The Tree Council is offering grants of between £250 and £2,500 for schools, constituted community groups and charities, community interest companies, Tree Warden networks, and other organisations across the UK to deliver tree-planting projects during the 2024/25 Winter planting season (between the end of November 2024 and early February 2025).

The International Tree Foundation UK Community Tree Planting Programme

The International Tree Foundation is offering grants for community-based organisations across the UK to deliver tree-planting projects that protect and restore indigenous trees and woodlands, support community engagement in tree planting, and increase awareness of the importance of trees and forests to environmental and human well-being.

The UK Community Tree Planting Programme will support projects that meet the following essential criteria:

North West Community Energy Fund Round 3

North West Net Zero Hub is administering our regional £2Million share of the Community Energy Fund (CEF) a £10Million grant programme open to community groups and eligible third sector organisations in England to develop projects from feasibility to commercialisation.

The funding will support eligible community groups to consider options, design schemes and overcome barriers to investment. It should be noted that it will not provide a grant for capital investment in the projects themselves.
