Celebrating 100 years of Social Action

A tale of two cities

Monday 22 July 2019 marks 100 years (to the day) of the formation of Manchester and Salford Council of Social Service. Macc, Salford CVS and Gaddum have worked together to mark the occasion with a celebratory event at the People’s History Museum. We felt it is important to mark 100 years of social action across the twin cities of Salford and Manchester.

Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Community Awareness Grant 2019/20

As part of its continued commitment to reducing and ultimately preventing Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) Manchester City Council is aiming to provide investment in 2019/20 through the Directorate for Children and Families to Voluntary, Community Sector, not for profit and faith sector organisations  to further address this issue. New Disabled Women’s Peer Support Project

Breakthrough UK are inviting disabled women who connected over Breakthrough’s Democracy Disability Devolution Events to join a new weekly peer group. It will be a safe space where disabled women can relax and enjoy themselves in a welcoming, accessible and friendly group. Members will lead the group and decide how it is run. Breakthrough staff and volunteers will attend to offer support and provide any training needed on running groups.

Recently I had a very nice letter inviting me to write for a publication (quite high status) and a follow-up phone conversation to explore further. The Pankhurst Trust Some Women Coach project – free coaching for women leaders

The Pankhurst Trust Some Women Coach project offers coaching free to women who have demonstrated leadership and who are unlikely to receive coaching in their role or position (work or voluntary).

The Pankhurst Trust are keen to ensure that their clients are representative of the women of Greater Manchester and to this end they welcome applications from disabled women, women from BAME and LGBTQ women.

There are 50 places available.
