FareShare Greater Manchester - Free food to play and youth providers

FareShare Greater Manchester fights hunger and tackles food waste by redistributing surplus food to over 100 charities in the region. They source food from the food and drinks industry, from donations and food drives, and also by capturing surplus edible fruit and vegetables at New Smithfield Market where they’re based.

On average they redistribute six tonnes of food every week.

FareShare Greater Manchester are keen to work with Manchester based play and youth providers over the summer holidays to help support children, young people and families at risk of food poverty.

Your Housing Group Young Persons Bursary

Apply for a Your Housing Group Bursary and you could receive money to enable you to go to university, cover transport costs to attend college or work, or support your move to a more independent life.

The Young Person Bursary is an initiative set up by Your Housing Group, which is available to all young people aged between 14-25 years old who live in a Your Housing Group property.

Joint Statement from Macc and VYM on Youth and Play Services Evaluation

Macc, together with VYM and Manchester City Council jointly carried out an evaluation of Manchester City Council's Youth and Play Services Commissioning (2014/15) which has, as yet, not been published. The statement explains the position of Macc and VYM who want to see the evaluation published as soon as possible, and the steps that have been agreed with Manchester City Council to make this happen.

Host organisations for Talent Match coaches wanted

GMCVO is inviting organisations to apply to host one of the first group of ‘Talent Coaches’, under Greater Manchester’s Talent Match programme.

Talent Match is a £108 million Big Lottery funded scheme aimed at tackling youth unemployment in 21 areas of England hardest hit by the economic downturn. It is a five-year investment for those aged 18-24 who have not been in employment, education or training for 12 months or more and need particular support to help them along the pathway to work.

Update - Youth and Play Fund Commissioning Evaluation

Macc, VYM and Manchester City Council worked co-operatively to produce an Evaluation of Youth and Play Fund Commissioning (2013-2015). The evaluation is based on survey data, focus groups and interviews with officers and councillors of Manchester City Council and with voluntary sector youth and play providers. It is divided into a number of sections each with findings, recommendations and questions to be considered, including sections on the application process, the decision making process panels and moderation and contract negotiation.

GMYN Board Trustee Recruitment

Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN) are in an exciting period of growth as they embark on the delivery of a number of new projects and services to support young people across Greater Manchester. They would like to expand their board in this time of development.

GMYN want board members who believe in their cause and are able to give enough time to the role.

No previous experience of board membership is needed. Applications are welcomed from people of all ages and backgrounds. Enthusiasm and commitment are the most important qualities they are looking for.
