Young People

Access to opportunities is launching a new course in March 2015

The course is aimed at helping young people recognise their talents and capabilities, and overcome any barriers that could be preventing them from accessing the job market. Although A2O aims to improve the prospects for young people finding sustained employment in a career of their choice, they also recognise suitability to alternative career paths, and self-employment.

The course is open to all 19-25 year olds, who are currently not in education, employment or training. All applicants must be eligible to work in the UK.

O2 Re-launches Think Big for 2015 - Helping young people to tackle problems in society

O2 Think Big aims to find young people with great ideas and help them turn their ideas into reality. This is done by awarding funding and delivering training and support. Projects have to help the community or tackle a problem with society. Projects that only help one person will not be accepted. Beyond that, applicants can do everything or anything – in fact the more bold and creative the ideas, the better.

Young Roots – grants to engage young people with heritage

Apply for a grant of £10,000-£50,000 to help young people aged 11 to 25 to explore their heritage, from green spaces, museums, and historic sites to language, local memories and youth culture.

The Heritage Lottery Fund are enthusiastic about engaging young people with heritage. Getting involved helps them develop new skills and interests, connect with their communities and have fun. And they bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to projects.

Youth Aspiration Fund – Grants to empower young people

Communities across Greater Manchester can benefit from a new £600,000 fund to empower young people and keep them out of trouble.

The Police and Crime Commissioner’s Youth Aspiration Fund will support work with vulnerable children and young people at risk of offending or risky behaviour.

Youth groups and organisations are invited to send in an ‘expression of interest’ for a slice of the money for projects aimed at keeping young people out of the criminal justice system and developing their life skills.

My Voice My Vote project for young people

My Voice My Vote, is a ground breaking project for passionate young people who have completed the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme, however you won’t be turned away if you haven’t completed the NCS programme.

As an NCS progression pathway, the My Voice My Vote aim is to get young people more democratically engaged through social action. It’s a fantastic opportunity for young people to build on what they learnt through NCS and act on issues they are passionate about as young people are becoming more and more disconnected to those who are in power.
