Organised by Labour councillors, the rally is aimed at voluntary groups, trade unions, churches, charities and individuals who feel Manchester has had a raw deal.

Generation Rent campaigns with private renters for professionally managed, secure, decent and affordable privately rented homes.

Generation Rent represent over 9 million tenants on a national scale, and work on policy and research as well as local campaigns in over ten regions including: Greater Manchester, Liverpool, the Wirral, Brighton, Hastings, Portsmouth and London boroughs of Brent, Newham, Hammersmith and Fullham, Haringey, Lewisham and Wandsworth.

This statement was agreed at an Emergency Voluntary Sector Assembly held on 11 December 2014.

The Greater Manchester Safeguarding Procedures was updated at the end of November. The procedures have been written so as to be part of the wider goal of improving the overall wellbeing of children and provide a framework for an integrated approach to safeguarding children from harm. Over 100 voluntary and community sector groups (VCS) from across Manchester gathered on 1 December 2014 at Manchester Town Hall to find out more about what is going to be a devastating round of funding cuts. A diverse group of VCS organisations attended including local neighbourhood care groups, housing associations, cultural groups, youth groups and advice and advocacy organisations.

Making good - The future of the Voluntary Sector is a collection of essays by voluntary sector leaders.

In these essays, 29 voluntary sector leaders and commentators give their views on where and how voluntary organisations could add most value to society over the next decade.

Most are from the UK but there are also some illuminating contributions from or about other countries.
