The Place at Platt Lane has been nominated for the National Housing Federation’s Community Impact Awards. It is one of only three projects nominated nationally in the ‘Better Neighbourhood’ category.

Skills workshops and training available at the Town Hall Extension

The Town Hall Extension provides a variety of skills workshop and training all available to Manchester residents. The following organisations provide workshops:

Citizens Advice Bureau
Advice and guidance on benefits, work, debt and money, housing, law and rights and discrimination. Private tenants’ advice, specialist advice to private tenants on debt, housing and benefits.

Employer Suite
Free recruitment service for Manchester businesses, matching residents to live opportunities.

Nine Lives Community Fund

The Nine Lives Fund is a partnership between Forever Manchester and the Chambers of 9 St. Johns Street, Manchester. The Fund is currently inviting applications from groups that provide activities for young people between the ages of 10 – 18 and living in deprived areas of Greater Manchester and with an income of under £150K. Priority will be given to projects working with children and young people with disabilities. Awards of up to £2,000 are available.

RBS Skills and Opportunities Fund

The focus for the RBS Skills and Opportunities Fund is to support organisations that help people in disadvantaged communities develop, create or access the skills and opportunities they need to help themselves; skills that will enable them to get into work or start a business, now or in the future. RBS believe that helping people gain such skills and access opportunities to learn can help turn their lives around and build better communities for everyone; when we build stronger communities, we all grow.

Just Act Community Fund

Just Act, the online community that helps people who want to make a difference in their local area, has now become part of the Crowdfunder family. Because Just Act have taken over the day-to-day running of the website they’ve created the Just Act Community Fund, distributing £50,000 to community projects across England and Wales. Just Act will be adding up to 50% of the funding target to a maximum of £1,000 to volunteer-led community projects that will change lives for the better.

Tell MAMA's Greater Manchester Youth Leadership Programme wants you

Volunteers needed to support vulnerable people

Greater Manchester’s Mayor and Police and Crime Commissioner is calling on local people to give up their free time to support young and vulnerable people.

The region’s Appropriate Adult scheme provides support and guidance to young and vulnerable people who have been arrested and have no parent or guardian to call on.

National Clinical Audit - Carer views on the quality of hospital care

This questionnaire is part of a National Clinical Audit which aims to improve the quality of care that hospitals provide to people who have confusion or memory problems.

The Royal College of Psychiatrists would like this questionnaire to be completed by family carers or key worker carers who visited the person with memory problems during their admission to a general hospital.
